The Company Program focuses on educating young people to strive for their personal best in anything they want to accomplish. We offer young people the opportunity to:
- Participate in physical activity and fitness training that enhances understanding of the value of a healthy mind and body
- Develop confidence when speaking or making a presentation in a public setting
- Discover the results of hard work and determination towards a personal goal
- Gain a sense of organization and balance and in life by learning to manage their commitments to both dance and academics
- Work with mentors who are dedicated to the students’ growth and success inside and outside of the studio
- Enjoy friendships and develop bonds with peers that could last a lifetime
- Gain a sense of belonging to extended family of fellow dancers, teachers, and parents
- Develop a lifelong appreciation for the performing arts
MINI COMPANY REQUIREMENTS
As part of the JLSD Mini Company, dancers must:
- Be registered in one full season class
- Attend 45 minutes of Company rehearsal per week
- Participate in Sunday rehearsals from January to March
- Attend the occasional Thursday evening rehearsal the night before a competitive event
PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES
As part of the JLSD Mini Company, dancers will have the opportunity to perform at:
- 2-3 local competitive events
- The annual Company showcase
- The annual year-end recital
