Mrs. June Lawrence is a graduate of York University with an Honours Degree in Fine Arts (Dance Major) and is a Full Member of the Canadian Dance Teachers’ Association, Ballet and Stage Divisions. June Lawrence has served on the Ballet, Stage and Executive Committees of the CDTA in addition to her role as Ballet and Stage Examiner. She is also proud to be a member of The Canadian Dance Masters Association. As part of her continuing education, Mrs. Lawrence attends workshops, seminars and conferences both locally and internationally.
Morgan Lawrence has been dancing with June Lawrence School of Dance for over 25 years. Morgan was a member of the Competitive Team during her years as a student. She trained as a Classroom Assistant for 10 years and has completed her CTDA Advanced Ballet, Tap, and Jazz examinations. Morgan attended Cawthra Park Secondary School for the Art Program in dance and was part of their repertoire company. During her time in the company she had the opportunity to perform at various elementary schools in New York City. Furthering her education she is a graduate of McMaster University for Civil Engineering and Management where she joined the dance team and competed at various events.
Morgan has completed level 3 with dance Masters of America and has attended Rhee Gold’s Project Motivate and Retreat Seminars. She continues to develop her dance training through professional workshops, classes and seminars. Along with teaching dance, Morgan also works as an Engineer. Morgan loves working with young dancers because she loves passing on her passion and love for the art.
Joanne Thompson has been dancing with June Lawrence School of Dance for over 26 years. Throughout those years she has been involved with the studio as a parent of a JLSD dancer (and competitive dancer) and she continues to participate in adult classes herself . Mrs. Thompson brings 18 years of teaching experience to June Lawrence School of dance, she has completed CDTA Tap exams and has completed level two of Dance Masters of America. Mrs. Thompson loves working on any arts and crafts project, loves the theatre, and sharing the love of dance with her young students.
Heather Kaczor has been dancing with June Lawrence School of dance for over 26 years, and was also a member of the competitive Dance Team during her years as a dancer. She trained as a classroom Assistant for 4 years and has completed her CDTA Advanced Jazz and Tap examinations. During her Dance teaching years she also studied at OIP downtown Toronto doing advanced Hip Hop and Contemporary classes along with doing weekend workshops. Heather attended Cawthra Park Secondary School of the arts and majored in the Dance program for 4 years. She is a graduate of George Brown College and received her diploma in Fitness and Lifestyle Management.
Matti Saidyfye has been dancing with June Lawrence School of dance for over 12 years, and was a member of the Competitive Team during her years as a student. She trained as a Classroom Assistant for seven years and has completed her CDTA Advanced Ballet, and Tap examinations. Matti is a graduate of Humber College, Fitness & Health Promotion.Project. She continues to develop her dance training through professional workshops, classes and seminars. Miss Matti performs with Ambitious Movement, participates in Toronto’s Choreographers’ Ball & Bazaar and attends Raise the Bar yearly workshops. Matti loves working with young dancers because they are so much fun to be around!
Traci Morson has been dancing with June Lawrence School of dance for over 19 years. She trained as a Classroom Assistant for 6 years and has completed her CDTA Advanced Ballet examination. Traci is currently attending Ryerson University, working on her Bachelor of Arts degree. Along with teaching dance, Traci works at the Oakville Museum. She also explored Drama through high school and summer breaks, performing in many school plays. Traci loves working with young dancers as she witnesses their development and growth. Miss Traci enjoys the students’ energy and enthusiasm and loves to see them meet and excel with each new challenge she sends their way.
Taylor Portigal has danced for 14 years and brings almost 4 years of teaching experience with her to June Lawrence School of Dance. She has studied with many professional dancers such as Nico Archambault and Blake McGrath. Miss Taylor has received many awards through out her competitive career including scholarships to study in Toronto and Los Angeles and also holds her NCCP gymnastics certification.
Monica is a recent graduate of the St. Lawrence College Music Theatre Performance Program, and has recently joined the staff at JLSD. She has trained for almost 20 years in many styles of dance including: ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary, latin, ballroom, folk, and musical theatre. Most of Monica’s training has been under the CDTA syllabus. and has had amazing opportunities to train with several directors and choreographers both in and outside of school, and has learned a great deal about what it takes to work in the performing industry.
Some of Monica’s theatre credits include: Sandy inGrease (SLC Stage), Tzietel in Fiddler on The Roof (SLC Stage), Harper Pitt in Angels in America (SLC Stage), Loretta in Irving Berlin’s White Christmas(SLC Stage), Diane in Hair (SLC Stage), Sweeney Todd (CMT), Serena inLegally Blonde the Musical (CMT), Laker Girl in Monty Python’s Spamalot(Lower Ossington Theatre). Miss Monica hopes to share her love of dance and passion for theatre with her young students.
